New Uses,
Markets and Customers
for Existing Services: "VIP, Inc."
A fortune tied up in
required equipment. A competitive,
fixed-sized market. And nowhere to grow.
That was the dilemma faced by 3D computer
graphics professionals and companies
and one of the most interesting
challenges we had faced.
This group of
professionals had been serving Hollywood
for years, but the amount of client work
was fixed -- there were only so many
network logos (and even commercials)
that required the expensive motion
graphics. With the cost of equipment so
high they needed to find a way to
"Radically Raise Their Revenue™"
to succeed.
After implementing our
research and analytical systems, we
determined that certain approaches could
be used to create graphics for an audience
with less technical requirements: worldwide corporate customers for
shareholder meetings, presentations,
advertisements and so on -- animating
3D logos and graphics.
As there could be more
lead time as well, the graphics
professionals and companies could work
around their tight schedules, using odd
hours and idle time to complete the
corporate projects at far lower cost per
project.
Using the same
equipment, modified approaches and a
different business model, we created
Visual Impact Presentations, Inc. "VIP"
was a sales and scheduling aggregator designed
to, at extremely low cost to operate, create
extensive new revenue for the computer
graphics artists and post production
companies.
This is a great example
of how we create entirely new uses,
markets and customers. And again, change
an industry for the richer.
