Complete
Reorganization of the Entire
Supply Chain...and an Industry
Could huge amounts
of revenue be generated through
independent film production? As all
such filmmakers are essentially
suppliers, the key was
changing their model to a financial one
from a purely artistic one. It required
wholesale changes in the very way they
thought, worked, did business and interacted.
Essentially, we had to
reorganize the entire supply chain through
influence, not power -- and remake a
century-old independent supplier model
based far more on emotion than on
commerce.
This was one of our more
well-known "deeply
embedded" projects where we become
complete involved not just in strategy but
in actually building and operating the programs.
We
created a non-profit organization: the Association of
Independent Feature Film Producers
(AIFFP) to influence and lead filmmakers
to a new "business" perspective.
Through an extensive
website, working with the U.S. Small
Business Administration to create loan program
for filmmakers, and education programs
and awareness campaigns on how to create
products that were more commercially
viable, AIFFP amassed some 20,000
filmmaker/suppliers around the world. It
became the largest trade organization of
its type.
The AIFFP project to
completely re-work an entire supply
chain (and arguably an industry) was
one of our largest and most complex assignments.
But the results have been spectacular:
tens of thousands of new titles
worldwide, of better
quality and lower cost. That has lead to spectacular
opportunities for revenue generation for
everyone involved...and a good deal of
great entertainment.
